The kit tools explained: sterile tattoo needle

Do you want to learn more about 1RL single needle tattoos? If so, read on to find out everything you need to know about this unique and intricate style of inking.

Our kits include up to four different sterile professional tattoo needles with the next configurations:

  • 1RL 0.25mm long taper
  • 3RL 0.25mm long taper
  • 5RL 0.25mm long taper
  • 7RL 0.25mm long taper

If you look at the sterilized packaging of each of the needles included in the kit you will notice it will say 25/1RLLT, 25/3RLLT, 25/5RLLT and 25/7RLLT. But, what do this numbers mean? Every tattoo needle is defined by 4 properties: diameter, taper, count and configuration.

Diameter

25 stands for 0.25 millimeters, which indicates the diameter of the needle.

Taper

The taper or point length indicates the shape of the point. Different manufacturers have their own specs for what taper they use. A standard short taper is usually 1.5mm. A long taper would be 2.0mm. Extremely long tapers can go as much as 7mm.

Count

The count indicates the number of needles grouped together at the point of the bar.

Configuration

Configuration or grouping indicates how the needles are grouped together. RL is an acronym for Round Liner. A round liner is a formation of needles in a tight circular formation which is used for lining (see image below).

Check the image below to see how the 1, 3, 5 and 7 round liners are grouped.
